Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Benzydamine belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and is part of the indazole group. It is characterized by local analgesic and anti-inflammatory action, and is also an antiseptic effective against a wide range of microorganisms.

Tantum Verde provides stabilization of cell membranes and inhibits the production of prostaglandins. Benzydamine has antibacterial and specific antimicrobial effects due to the rapid penetration of microorganisms through the membranes, which leads to damage to cellular structures, metabolic disorders and cell lysis.

Tantum Verde has an antifungal effect in diseases caused by Candida albicans. Benzydamine causes modifications of the metabolic chains of mycetes and cell walls of fungi of a structural nature. This prevents their reproduction, so the appointment of benzydamine is recommended for inflammatory processes in oral cavity including diseases of infectious etiology.

Pharmacokinetics

At topical application the process of absorption of benzydamine through the mucous membranes proceeds quickly, so the substance penetrates well into inflamed tissues.

Tantum Verde is excreted mainly through the kidneys and intestines in the form of conjugation products or metabolites. Dosage forms drugs intended for topical use do not have a systemic effect and do not penetrate into breast milk.
